Product Description
Originally a member of a later incarnation of The Chantels, Yvonne Fair spent time in the early ‘60s as member of The James Brown revue, recording several Brown-produced singles. Spending years on the road with Chuck Jackson, it was this R&B legend who brought the lady to Motown around 1969. After one single featuring Marvin Gaye, it took Norman Whitfield’s creative genius to bring out the best in Ms. Fair with a series of classic singles beginning in early 1974. Her revival of the Motown standard “It Should Have Been Me” earned her a Top 5 pop hit in the UK and this album, with its classic but controversial title and cover art, was also a big seller.
Includes 20-page booklet featuring 7,500 word essay by A. Scott Galloway. Interviewed for this project were Chuck Jackson, Dionne Warwick, Walter Godfrey, Sammy Strain, Venisha Brown (Yvonne's daughter) and many more.
